DM is suddenly "back", while RLF hasn't posted in nearly a month.

Interesting...

Re: Hmmm...

The only way I've found to get the counters to work accurately in both directions is to place only two -- one for the start/finish, and one somewhere else out on the track. You could maybe do some sort of funky layout where the track loops back on itself and/or crosses so you hit the checkpoints in ...

Wow, I never realized that the checkpoint covered such a large area! Usually on my maps I would put them in narrow places or on straightaways where it was difficult to miss them, because I assumed they were only the size of a spawn point or regen (the actual regen "car" itself, not the bui...

Re: Hmm...

Testing proved inconclusive and possibly a detriment to players not running the patch...though a bunch of the tests were with DM who insisted FRAPS didn't change the game... Wait for GrizZz to verify the results. I'm pretty sure he was the wingman for that project. A "fix" introduced by o...

Cool idea! Interesting approach too -- write as much as you can as fast as you can, even if it sucks. If I had the kind of free time necessary to pump out 50,000+ words in a month, I'd probably even give that a try. Maybe I can use that as a good excuse to dig out those two Interstate story outlines...

It's a good start - the best advice anyone can give is to keep writing! You've got a lot of different directions you could go. Are those cars ...remote controlled? ...robots? ...ghost-driven? ...midget-driven? ...ghost-midget-driven? ....or something else entirely? Write the rest of the story and we...

I haven't re-read them in quite a while, but the conflicting information probably depends on the point of view of the character providing the information. The LF character essentially became a recluse after Oak Ridge, so to the average vigilante it seemed that he had disappeared. To those who were m...

i love how when you read one you can tie it in with some of the others you have read. i think i may try my hand at some fiction although it would be difficult. not only because of my writing skills but because of what has already happened. i dont really want to contradict any stories but some of th...

how bout a truck load of pepsi products. the creepers are just really thirsty and the vigs want tthem to dehydrate and die... Make it Diet Pepsi and Puff Daddy (Puffy, P.Diddy, or whatever the hell his name is this week) can make a cameo appearance as the driver - although, that would work against ...

"Hacked" cars are certainly an option in Interstate fiction since they did play an annoyingly large part in the online side of the game, but if you want to retain any realism in the story use them with extreme caution. Giant tires, overpowered engines, an unlimited-ammo weapons all work in...

Death Machine took all of his videos using a program called FRAPS. Apparently, when set to record it forced the game to run at a specific framerate (30 FPS, I believe), which changed the physics enough that he could play the game normally. There was a big thread about it that eventually devolved int...

I get the "snow mode" every time I alt-Tab out to check the server scope, ICQ, etc. It looks neat, but seems to make the game much more prone to crashing so I don't like to leave it that way for long. Tapping the Escape (menu) key twice always fixes it. It's possible that people are seeing...

The physics problems AE mentioned are definitely framerate related, and are not caused by D3d mode itself (at least not directly). My system (PII 333mhz) must be right in the sweet spot for Nitro, since it runs *exactly* the same in D3d as it does in software. I've never noticed any difference with ...

I wonder if it could be related to all those other issues (short-range morts, flamethrowers that flicker, etc.) that go along with having the insanely high framerates newer computers can provide? Extremely "sticky" traction is a known problem (especially on ramps), so it's possible that it...
