Nitro Pack, IPX and VPN Tunnels

Post by Lightfoot »

If you have a clue what I'm typing about respond to this thread.

Now that most home users have bandwidth to spare this idea may actually work...

Any takers?

Hello Lightfoot!

Im back online and am currently on a 10 year old machine. Ah, the memories are flooding back.:)

Ive installed I76 and Nitro and am willing to try to find a way to play again online.

What do you think of this?

Hey DM!

Great to see you back on the roads! I've tried the Hamachi app a few times in the past with no success. It could have been due to a lack of motivation on the part of my other tester or simply that it doesn't work.

Regardless, we've got Hamachi, Kali (which did work in the past) and the IPX VPN tunnel to test if and when you've got the time.

I'm on MSN (as you can see) so drop me a line any time you see me and we'll get a test together. If you need any upgrades for your PC let me know. I ended up with a bunch of units in the 1.6 to 2.4 range I could give to you for shipping cost.

I'd be pretty interested in trying to get this to work. I'm going to try experimenting with it using an off site PC and my own, and if I can get it working with those I'd want to try with someone else online.

First thing I'm going to try is Hamachi, but the only thing is that the way that I run i'76 is by a Virtual PC (it runs perfectly btw :D Windows 98 ftw) and I'm not sure if the VPN will get through to it, though it can access the network normally. We'll see.

Right on...

...keep us posted. I should have time at strange hours through July so if we want to try and make this work, this is probably the last, best chance to keep Nitro alive.

I'76 will live on through peer to peer IP...all you need is a static address.
