Thanks to our friends over at "The Professionals" for liberating the unreleased Nitro Pack patches, BofH for not being able to leave a challenge alone and the good folks at BADJEDI, we present to you:

Back up your files, install the update and add BATTLEZONE1.COM to your server list and have at it!

Yesterday I installed the patch III and I worked fine. Now today i'm trying to play and the game is asking for the CD.
Someone has this problem too?

...kind of funny, the same thing happened here on a test box last night.

We resolved the issue by re-installing the game and then reapplying the patch.

Let us know if this doesn't help.

I tried that but I didn't work. I can play Instant Melee and Multi, but there's no music and doesn't let me play the scenarios

Depending on what "version" of the game you're running you may actually need the CD to play the scenarios and also to have music.

However, I'm not recalling a Nitro Pack sound track so let me get back to you on that part.

Rumor has it that the GoG version of Nitro Pack plays well with the patch and is fully functional. I also have it on good authority that you can still get copies of Nitro on eBay and (maybe) Amazon.

I'd spend the $5 for the GoG version and take it from there.

Just wanted to share that if you have GOG version you can leave stock nitro.exe (not replace it with one from the patch) -- music and scenarios work then. Not sure if that's a good idea however (but multiplayer works fine!).

You'll need a framerate limiter to compete on some of the maps but that's ez pz.

Oh, and just if someone here is into that sort of thing -- the game works completely fine on Wine on Linux and possibly Mac OS X (use Windows 98 emulation mode), including multiplayer

Does anyone have a fix for the CD detection issue yet (GOG version)? I found a bunch of cd check disablers here but most of them are 16 and don't work on 64-bit editions of windows.

I think you only need the CD if your'e staring with SPLASH.EXE or trying to play the missions...or are you talking about original I'76?

I haven't used a CD to play for years.

Nope, I'm talking about nitro. For some reason replacing the original exe with the fps patch or patch III's version causes this.

Doing further inspection, you're right. It's only needed if you plan to play the campaign. Still kind of sucks though.
