Tip for getting the Java AVA Car Designer to work in Chrome

Post by zaphod »

Just install the IE Tab extension. This allows Chrome to use the Internet Explorer renderer to handle the Java applet. Install the extension, and then run the one time executable it downloads. Once installed, just click on the IE Tab button on the upper right, and you will be designing cars!

I feel like that scene in Roger Rabbit, where Eddie opens up his gun case, and the old cartoon bullets are finally awake once more.

...or you could just use IE with Java installed?

Neither chrome or edge seem to work with the java designer, could be because I'm the only guy running windows 10 here as far as I know. Does el gato's chopshop run off the ava pricelist?

From Google...which apparently doesn't work for everyone...

Enable Java in Edge:

1.Launch the Edit Group Policy program.
2.Expand the User Configuration folder.
3.Expand the Administrative Templates folder.
4.Expand the Windows Components folder.
5.Expand the Microsoft Edge folder.
6.Double-click Allows you to run scripts, like Javascript.
7.Choose Disabled, and click Ok to confirm.

I tried using it with the IE tab extension and it just shows up as a big red X

I'll just download IE when I get the chance or use the chopshop :?
Bring water to a boil. Lightly salt and oil. Add pasta. Cook until al dente...

Oh...funny little caveat....

Apparently, even if you add the website to the "trusted sites" link it doesn't like it if you don't have the WWW in front when trying to view the page.

I just fought with Firefox for about an hour before I tried adding the http://www to the weblink and "Viola!"...it worked.

...not like it wasn't working in IE but since we're not all barbarians...

...oh, and because dead horses don't mind being beaten I'm going to have Megahirtz work on getting a valid signature on a 20 year old Java applet just for you guys...
