ANET server issues / PLAY.INTERSTATE76.COM

Hey kids,

Looks like we're having an issue with PLAY and an update that hit sometime around the end of December, though we're not sure which update or which platform.

In a nutshell, the UDP query port (the one that returns the game information from the host to the client (21157)) is dropping the last digit off the 4th octets IP address (e.g. - 50.250.167.13 becomes 50.250.167.1) thus making communication between the boxes fail.

I've done a TON of testing (rolling back kernels, removing Windows updates, reconfiguring the Comcast modem, installing Patch III and IV instead of AIO, etc.) and have isolated it to two functioning theories:

1) The PC hosting the game is sending a truncated IP over UDP to the ANET server
2) The ANET server is truncating the IP address of the PC querying the host

I've got all hands on deck to try and sort this out, though it may be a combination that eludes us for a while.

The weird part is I can host a game on BZ911.NET and join it from my test machine offsite without issue, but can't host a game with the offsite machine and join it with the PC here. I also can't connect to a game I host from here if I'm connected to a VPN under the same circumstances.

I'm not sure if this issue is affecting other games but I haven't seen any activity on the server for a while now...

If anyone has any ideas I'd like to hear them.

Fingers crossed.
